This post is in response to the numerous complaints about front and rear suspension noise on Boxsters and Carreras. About 2 weeks ago I started noticing a noise coming from the front suspension at low speeds, during acceleration, braking and cornering. the noise level grew steadily louder and began to include the rear end but continued only during slow speeds (less than 30 mph). As this is my daily driver I became concerned after reading the other posts that I may have a bad lower control arm. I followed the advice you had given others to ensure all the hardware was tight and then had a friend help with the control arm check. Needless to say the bolts were tight and the control arms did not need replacing. The only thing left was the anti-sway bars. We had a pretty hot summer last year and I spend a fair amount of time in traffic so I was not surprised to read that these conditions can break down rubber bushings. On of the postings reported that a mechanic had sprayed some sort of lubricant and the noise went away, he just didn't know what was used.I picked a can CRC Belt Conditioner from my local auto parts store it is designed to "eliminate squeaks and prevent slippage" on serpentine and V belts and is safe for use on leather, rubber, canvas and fabric and contains no petroleum distillates. I sprayed the anti-sway bar bushings both front and rear and am happy to report that after about 20 minutes of normal driving the noise went away.I will report back in 3000 miles and let you know how it went. Please pass to Scott Slauson for the Boxster crowd.
