Acid Rain Pit Repair

Vehicle Information: Model: 993; Year: 1996; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 52,000;

My metallic black 993 has a pit in the paint on the roof about 1/4 inch in diameter that I believe to be caused by acid rain. Your can feel a depression in the paint and the rough white edges in the depression. I read the only Q&A on acid rain repair that came up on my original tech site search regarding your suggestion to use color Turtle wax on a black car to hide the white spots on a black car. Should I also attempt to use a low abrasive polish to smooth out the rough edges of the depression?
