Hi, I recently purchased a 2000 Porsche 996. In MY 2000, the Carreras came with a remote entry system that locked / unlocked the doors and controlled the alarm. The key only has 1 button. The trunk and hood have to be released from inside the vehicle using the levers between the driver's seat and door. -- Although I always strive to maintain all my vehicles as stock and original as possible, convenience goes a long way!  I'd like to add an aftermarket trunk release system, where I can pop open the trunk without having to open the driver's door and pulling on the levers.

I don't mind adding a small remote to my keychain to accomplish this. So, my question is...has anyone on this forum done this? Do you know of any aftermarket kit that would provide an electric mechanism that can be added to the already existing lever system, which would allow me to operate the trunk without opening the door and using the internal levers?

I think to avoid triggering the alarm, I would have to first use the door/alarm button on the key, but then I could pop the trunk as I approach the vehicle rather than the manual way described above.

Thank you,

Sergio
