I will be replacing the cooling fan on my car because I noticed a dime size chip about one and a half inches from the pulley. Kind of where it curves back on that rounded section of the fan. Could the stock cast magnesium fan material start to deteriorate at this age? There is no apparent reason how this occured. Also since I will have the alternator out of the car for fan replacement do you think I should have the alternator bench tested and brushes replaced.I have owned the car for a year. What is the typical lifetimeof the brushes.I will be replacing the fan using my Bentley manual and the archives. The alternator I will send to the local Porsche dealer.AS ALWAYS THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND HELP.
