Alusil vs Nikasil

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera; Year: 1988; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2 Litre; Total Mileage: 92,000;

After having 2 separate Porsche dealers diagnose our car, my wife and I are biting the bullet and having a "Top End" done on our engine. We have noisy/loose valve guides which I've read is common in this engine. While the car is in we are having RaceWare Head Studs installed as well as putting in new rings and having the cylinders recoated. My question is that in several articles I've read it states that 2 types of cylinders were used, Alusil & Nikasil. It also states that if Alusil was used they were basically a one-time-use since they can't be honed and they can't be re-ringed successfully. Is this true & if so is there anyway of telling what kind of cylinders our car has BEFORE you tear it all apart?
