Battery Maintainer Causes Central Locking System Light to Glow

Electrical and Electronic

When putting away the car for the snowy seasson, I attempted to attach a Porsche battery maintainer via the cigar lighter outlet. When plugging in the maintainer, the central locking system light on the console came on after a second or two and then remained lit. This made no sense to me and seemed to be a potential problem for the electrical system so I unplugged it. The car continues to start and run with no problem and no alternator light has come on. Reviewing the electrical diagrams shed litle, if any, light on the subject. I had the alternator rebuilt several years ago with nothing but good running since, so I tend to discount that as a problem. What is going on here? - and is it verboten to use a cigar lighter-type maintainer for winter storage for this car?
