caliper fit follow up

Follow up info. The mechanic couldn't fit the front calipers with black Pagid pads over the rotors (First, I thought it was the rear). He says the car has almost new front rotors but they measure 20.4 or 20.5 mm vs the 20.0 original. He says the rotors are superceded part #477.405.083.A. Also that he had to sand down some of the OEM pads to fit. Does this make sense? The calipers just got restored, the rotors haven't been changed, the only difference was trying to fit the new Pagid pads. Now I have mismatched F/R pads with Pagids in the rear and Porsche stock in frint.
