Car radio won't turn on after replacing dead battery

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Year: 1990; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 125,000;

I just got my car back from my mechanic (new clutch, valves adjusted, some oil leaks repaired). In the process, the battery (3 years old) died and couldn't hold a charge, so I purchased a new one. Everything works except the radio will not turn on. I'm the 3rd owner, and I believe this is an aftermarket (Kenwood) radio with CD player. I have the manual, tried the "reset" button, wiggled and replaced the removable face several times, checked the car's fuses. I can't find the problem. I've replaced the car's battery before (3 years ago) and don't recall having this problem. Any ideas?
