Central Locking System Function

Electrical and Electronic

Model: 964, Year:1989, Mileage:105000, Type of use:Street use only
I have a question about the central locking system for a 1989 911 (964) C4. The system appears to operate fine except for the following. If the car is locked and you unlock the car's passenger door first using the key the passenger door only unlocks and the alarm sounds. However if you go over to the drivers side (with the alarm sounding) and unlock the driver's door the alarm stops. However, if you unlock the car from the driver's side both doors unlock just fine. When using the key both doors lock whether you are on the left or right. When the doors are locked both the left and rightalarm LED's pulse indicating that the alarm is armed.Next, the interior's central alarm button unlocks and locks both doors just like it should, however when you are in the car with the doors locked the red light is on in the button.(Console central lock button)Hopefully I have not confused you too much, I had a compentent Porsche mechanic check the system and he could find nothing wrong. In fact he checked another 964 and it operated the same way as mine. I just find it very odd that you can not unlock the passenger door first with out the alarm going off. Call me old fashioned but I like to open and hold the door for my wife. Did Porsche forget this little bit of Chivalry or is my system fouled up.I have owned this car for 4 years now and it operated like this when I purcased the car. Any infomation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Eric Coppock
