changing transmission fluid

Vehicle Information: Year: 2000; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.7; Total Mileage: 31500; Transmission: Manual;
I own a 2000 Boxster with 31,000 miles on it. I am taking it to a mechanic for the 30,000 mile service. Do I need to have the transmission fluid changed? Also, I have heard about this special GM tranny fluid; should I use this?
