Charcoal canister

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera; Year: 1986; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 158,000;

The bracket holding the charcoal canister located at the top of the right rear wheel well broke and I had to remove the canister and tie the hoses back in order to drive the car home. It seems to run fine without the canister.Will operating the car without the canister adversely affect its performance (or improve it) or damge anything? Is it likely to pass the state run emmissions test without the canister?
