Clutch cable adjustment frustration

Ed,

Again, thanks for all your help in the past.  One of these days I'll quit asking questions, but it may not be soon.

The clutch cable that came with the car is frustrating me.  I have lengthened it to the max 17 mm at the yoke, and have adjusted the free play to the minimum 20 mm.  BUT, the cable continues to bottom out on the cable guide attached to the transmission.  I do have the minimum 15 mm travel at the fork, but that is with the cable torqueing against the guide.

The cable appears to be in fine condition, and the end is properly attached to the transmission with a new PN 911.423.213.00 "nipple."

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Ed Anderson
