Clutch not engaging

Engine

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Boxster S; Year: 2003; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 48,500; Transmission: Manual;

In the last year, I had two independent events relating to the car not responding after shifting. During aggressive driving and when I down shift and accelerate hard, the RPM revs up really high but the car doesn''t respond or go fast. It seems the clutch skips the gear and acts like being in neutral. Once I take foot of pedal and lower RPM down and shift again, the car is back to normal. Then I can drive aggressively or otherwise.Dealer recommends a clutch replacement otherwise I might risk ruining the fly wheels too. Again this happened only twice. My question is that if I decide to delay fixing the clutch until this situation occurs more frequently and since I know the situation and solving it by slowing down, would that be acceptable? The Mechanic that works on my car recommends that I replace the clutch and enjoy the feel of new clutch. Other Mechanics have told me to ignore it and to slow down when it occurs until it happens frequently. I appreciate your recommendation. What do you suggest? Thank you.
