Cold Start Valve? Auxiliary Air Valve?

Fuel System

Vehicle Information: Model: 911S; Year: 1977; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 170,000 mi mi (engine)(chassis) 75000;

I have been trying to solve a hard cold starting/low idle at cold warmup problem I had with my 911 last fall and earlier this spring. The car has an 80 engine, enlarged to 3.2l, without smog equipment. Reaching around behind the fuel distributer (that is, between the FD and the firewall) I came across an electrical connection that appears to have a broken wire. Is this my cold start valve? Or would this be the connector for my auxiliary air valve? Or is this some sensor or other remnant of the emissions equipment that I am no longer running? If it is the Cold start injector or AAV and is not connected, I can certainly see why that would cause my starting problems. Short of dropping the engine, what can I do? would I be able to tell if I could get a mirror back in there? What do you think? .
