Crazy electrical stuff '71 911T

Vehicle Information: Model: 911t; Year: 1971; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): stock 2.2; Total Mileage: 140000;

Ok, I had a question a little while ago about the batteries on my 71 911T that I am restoring. What happened was I hooked the batteries up in a series instead of parallel which resulted in one hell of a shock. Now that the batteries are hooked up parallel there is still no power when I turn the key. Is it possible that I fried something by hooking the battery up wrong. I don't have an ohmmeter yet but using a tester that you hook one end up to a ground and then poke a wire to see if it's hot I found current at the starter and at a few wires in the engine bay. I know that it is probably a ground problem but I don't have a clue as to where to start looking.
