Cuts off around 3000RPM

Fuel System

Model: 1980, Year:928, Mileage:110K, Type of use:Street use only
My 1980 928 (5-speed) is cutting out under hard acceleration. It occurs in all gears at 2600-3000 RPM, and the engine comes right back after a second or two. The car sat for a while before I bought it, but I cleaned the tank and replaced the fuel pump and filter with Bosch parts when I first got it. two years ago. It doesn't have an in-tank pump or fuel accumulator, but I'm suspecting the fuel strainer at the bottom of the tank. Any place else I should look while I'm waiting for the this tank to run out? It starts well and pulls well at lower RPM and more moderate acceleration. Many thanks
