Damaged battery hold-down fastener

Model: 911 Carrera , Year:1986, Mileage:191,00, Type of use:Street use only
I have a damaged 6mm allen head battery hold-down fastener in my 1986 Carrera coupe, and am unable to use my allen key insert socket to remove the fastener. Due to some apparent battery corrosion on the holddown bracket and fastener, the allen insert socket just spins in the fastener head recess, and will not bite. I cleaned off the fastener and bracket with backing soda and water and then cleaned out the recess in the fastener head, but still no luck. This is the first time I have ever had this problem trying to remove the fastener. And obviously work / access space in this area is at a minimum. The current battery in the car is a factory, Porsche battery. If I can get the battery removed, I am planning on replacing it with a sealed Optima battery so I no longer have to deal with the venting, which I believe caused this problem in the first place. Any suggestions regarding the removal of this damaged fastener would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...
