First Chris, I love reading the Q&A's and I think you are doing a great job. This is one of the greatest benefits of PCA membership. Thanks for your time and effort, especially with your full time obligations. My question has to do with the defrost vent surrounds on the dash of my '85 Carrera coupe. I could find nothing searching the archives. I am in the process of replacing the dash. Before I install the new one, and while the windshield is out and access is easy, I wanted to replace the vent surrounds. The ones in place now do not line up exactly with the defrost opening and in fact cover it a little. Both sides are the same. They do not appear to be deformed from sun heat. They plug into the holes around the vent opening fine. Before I ordered new ones at $52 a side I wanted to ask if this apparent mis-alignment is a common trait for older 911's. I do not have access to other cars to compare with. Thanks again and Happy New Year!
