Dead Battery "Sleeper?"

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Year: 2001;

After driving my 97 Boxster, my brother in law bought a new 2001 (not an S). During the first 30 days he has called Porsche roadside assistance twice when, after not driving the car for several days, his battery was dead. The technician told him that he had to start the car every 3 days, or the battery was disabled. He refered to this as a "sleeper". Did he misunderstand? I've never heard of this and have had no battery problems until almost 50,000 miles in my '97 when I had to replace it.
