detonation ('ping') mid to high rpms

Recently started experiencing detonation under heavy to full load acceleration, mid to high rpm range (above 4500 rpms) - checked timing per factory method (4000 rpm warm engine both vacuum lines to distributor disconnected), right on the mark, using good grades of fuel not 'discount' brands, all 93 or better R+M/2, new fuel filter, new air filter, recent valve adjustment & plug change, CO% within range - what/where to check next? Appeared well after last tune-up and with onset of cold weather in this part of Texas.
