Disabling the Passenger side air bag

Interior

I have just installed the air bag deactivation kit and have the "overpriced" Porsche car seat to allow my grandchildren to ride with me.It occurred to me that my wife is barely 5' tall and I should probably find some way to disable the air bag when she's riding.I can rather easily make a reproduction of the "special" male side of the front buckle that actually disables the airbag; however, what I wondered was whether Porsche uses the metal in the buckle as part of the electrical contact to disable the bag or...if I they use the special shape of the buckle to trigger an internal switch...mechanically when the "tongue" is inserted into the female side. This would allow me to make a replica of the buckle out of something like Lexan, which is much easier to work with than a similar thickness of steel.
