Wheels and Tires

Hello,I put a new set of Continental ProContacts on my '74 911 in Mar 1999. The car stays garaged although I drive it as much as possible. I don't do DE's and obey speedlimits mostly. But after 12 years the tires are showing the start of some dry rot cracks - the tread looks great but the dryrot worries me. Should I put a new set of tires on it? Are tires weakened when they have hairline dryrot cracks? They never lose air BTW.
