I purcahsed this car and it sat for about 6 weeks while I arranged transportation and had the targa top rebulit. On arrival, the battery needed a jump. It started and I drove it about 20 minutes and have parked it for the last week. The battery was dead when I tried to start it yesterday. On the first jump-start attempt, one of the jumper cables(+) arced at the handle of this car. Using another set of cables, I was able to coax a few truns of the motor but without successful start. Also, there appears to be a drain on the booster battery (996). My question is, do I get a jump from something more powerful, like a battery box or AAA? Is this just a routine dead battery or something more complicated? BTW, the (+) cable got warm when trying to jump on subsequent tries. The battery is relatively new and has proper fluid levels at all acells. Thank you very much for your excellent insights and information.
