I read all your posts and they have been very helpful. I have read the previous postings regarding "Engine Noises." However, my 911s noises occured in conjunction with another issue. I was recently on a road trip about 200 miles away in the middle of nowhere. The oil line feeding the driver's side oil tensioners sprung a bad leak at the T fitting of the line.I lost about 3 quarts of oil. I bought a couple of gallons of oil and obtained some teflon tape to temporarily seal the fitting. The engine ran fine on the drive home but the fitting leaked about 2 quarts of oil. I ordered brand new lines and I am waiting for their delivery. So far , no problem. But, I took the car out for a short drive maybe 5 miles or so. Then I noticed "rattling or diesel like noises" coming from the motor. As a process of elimination, I removed the fan belt, so the the alternator bearings are not at fault. The noise is constant and seem to fade somewhat north of 4000 rpms or so.The motor idles and runs fine. Am I looking at simply a tensioner gone bad? Or god forbid a rod or main bearing knock?I intend to tow it to a Porsche mechanic soon but your opinion is welcomed.thanks,William
