I have been using non-synthetic 20/50 Valvoline oil (produced in the USA) in my 3.4 L turbo engine for the past five years with excellent results. I track the car about 10 days yearly and use it as a daily and roadtrip driver (+/- 15,000/yr). I customarily change the oil monthly for the eight months driven yearly as cheap insurance. It was just pointed out to me by a friend (from information provided by some hot-rodders) that the composition of this oil was recently changed to delete the zinc component. The change is apparently identified by a change from "L" to "M" in the API Service logo. The hot-roddders are upset about it. Should I be worried? If so, are there any alternative out there for non-synthetic and if synthetic if the best solution, how often shoul d I change the oil.
