Engine Replacement


Vehicle Information: Model: 911T; Year: 1969; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.0 - electronic ignition, upgraded tensioners, front chin oil cooler, seiko seiki A/C compressor; Total Mileage: 120,000;

Headed to the parade, I siezed an engine. Can't figure out why, as the oil pressure, level and temp all read ok. Anyhow, I'm looking at a replacement rather than repair. I have a lot of parts to build a 2.7, but am short pistons, cylinders, and performance studs (i.e. also a timecerting job to the case). I also have an early 915 trans, and my current 901 trans is rebuilt. I'm looking for what way to go on the car. It's a daily driver, mostly winter. It is sounding to me like a 3.0 l replacement, possibly with the 915, but maybe keeping the 901 is a much better way to than the 2.7 build. I think the 3 is more engine than I need, but after a seizure, I'm looking for strength and reliability. I do not race this car, but could if in good enough shape to do so. It's primary purpose, though will always be daily (and mostly winter) transportation. I'm also looking at the finances, and expect it's about a push, but am looking for a general read there too.Thanks!
