Engine RPM's vary while driving a constant speed

Vehicle Information: Model (Boxster, Boxster S,Cayman, Cayman S): Boxster; Year: 2005; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.7; Total Mileage: 33,500; Transmission: Tiptronic;

While driving at about 45 MPH, the rpms on the Tach will move up and down from about 2000 to 2100. This while driving on a flat road. It also happens at other speeeds. The transmission does not change gears or gear down. It's very annoying and has me worried that the engine will have problems once it's out of warranty.The Porsche dealer (HBL, Tysons Va) has looked at this twice. both times they tell me this is normal but it doesn't seem normal. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
