Engine Smoking on Start Up

Engine

Vehicle Information: Year: 1991; Engine (Size, Modifications): 3.3 Turbo, B&B Headers; Total Mileage: 31,000;

The car is a garage queen that I drive on the weekends. A few weekends ago, I started the car and it barely could idle and white smoke from the exhaust filled the garage. Eventually, the smoke went away and the car began to idle normally. I had the same experience the following weekend. This past weekend the car started fine with no smoke. My mechanic thinks it may be the fuel we have here, which contains 10% ethanol. I checked this website and learned that with the 993 TT's it may be a filter or check valve problem. I'm not sure if this would apply to 91 turbo. I did add a little oil to the car before the smoking began, but the level was still well within the lines on the dip stick. Any advice you could give would be appreciated.
