At 19,500 miles, during a routine commute home at the end of the day, a PADM alert popped up.  The alert is still there, and I know now that the left dynamic mount is defective.

Likely an electrical fault, as the mount itself is pristine ... no oil or signs of damage.  In search of various forums, I see that PADM faults and failure of the dynamic mounts are not uncommon.  Especially for the Boxster and Cayman model.

My Cayman S is a daily driver, and has been tracked about 5 times. My Cayman is meticulously maintained.

My questions to the community:

  • In general, what has been your experience?
  • If you have replaced the dynamic mount, where did you purchase the mount?  They are expensive, and there are various versions due to upgrades
  • Are there options to the dynamic mount, such as a solid elastomeric mount, or other manufacturers beside BWI?
  • Can anyone provide a procedure to change the mount.  Appears to be a bit complicated due to the location of the mounts.
  • Does anyone have any technical details on the mounts, other than what is published on the internet?
  • What is the default state when the dynamic mount "fails"?
  • What are the driving concerns with a "failed" mount?  I believe no issue although handling in Sports and Sports Plus might be affected

Thanks in advance.
