Fender Flares and 4 lug to 5 lug wheel adapters

Body

Vehicle Information: Model (914/4, 914/6): 914/4; Year: 1974; Engine (type, size, modifications): 1.8; Total Mileage: 110,000;

I'm currently working on my 74 914/4 and am in the process getting ready to paint the car. I was thinking of putting on fiberglass flares on the car. I have little experience doing body work and was wondering if I could get some advice from you.1. What is the preferred method of fastening the flares to the car? I have used automotive adhesives is this recommended?2. I'm sure that the steel flares are preferred over the fiberglass flares however, will I be making a big mistake using the fiberglass flares in your opinion?3. Do you remove (cut) the steel fenders to increase the size of the wheel opening. If so, does this effect the structural strength of the car.4. I am wanting to convert the 4 lug to 5 lug and was wondering if using the 4 lug to 5 lug adapters were any good for this. Are there any disadvantages to using the Adapter?Thanks
