Follow up on continuously burning engine lid light question

Thanks for your help earlier on the continuously burning engine compartment light.We were both on the same track with the wiring. I tried the alarm with the brown/red cut and it didn't work the way it previously worked. Also, that wire was still constantly grounding itself so something else was wrong, and the battery wasn't quite charging properly. I discovered, that in the process of replacing the front lid struts the other day I dislocated the metal pad that the switch button closes with so the front lid light was burning continuously as well. I also discovered that if the front light is on, the rear lid lights up and vice versa so the brown/red wire was the ground lead from the front lid. Long story short, I fixed the switch pad up front so that light no longer burns continuously, and everything works great!
