Follow up to "Soft touch" interior finish

Vehicle Information: Model: Boxster; Year: 2001; Body Type: Convertible; Total Mileage: 26K;

Thank you for the answer to my recent question on the "soft touch" interior trim finish.Unfortunately, my base Boxster does not have the leather interior package. The trim pieces that are experiencing flaking and bubbling are not leather, but seem to be some sprayed on finish on top of the base plastic. I would rather not have to go to the trouble and expense of piecing together a leather interior from my dealer's parts counter. My original question was for a spray on plastic membrane type of finish to restore the appearance of the OEM sprayed on plastic finish. (I believe the earlier Boxster base interiors did not have this finish)My dealer DID get frustrated enough by the time the second set of door storage lids started flaking they upgraded the lids to the leather covered ones. I doubt they will do that with the whole interior (unfortunately)Thanks in advance for any clarification answer you have on restoring the finish on these parts for when the car is out of warranty
