I tightened up the A/C belt so the max deflection was 3/8". When doing the alternator belt it was down to two shims in the valley and 4 on the outside. Now all 6 shims are on the outside. Before I did my final turn on the bolt, I started the car and I got that squeal sound for about a second. This was probably the source. Now my concern is with relatively short time of usage on the belt Im maxed out on being able to tighten the belt anymore. Should I just figure on replacing the belt when it gets loose again? Does the outside flange wear out? Should I consider getting a new flange? What about the inside flange? Which Im sure is more than just a flange.
