Gear Whine revised

Transmission

Vehicle Information: Model: 356B; Year: 1963; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): stock; Total Mileage: 65k;

I pulled the motor to replace a leaky oil cooler seal, replaced the throwout bearing and starter bushing while engine was out. I have driven about 200 miles since, and have developed a whine in the transmission at about 3000rpms and up. It occurs only when I have my foot on the accelerator (not when coasting down a hill, or when the clutch is depressed) and can be silenced with very light pressure on the shift lever. Noticeable mostly in 2nd and 4th gear. I did nothing to the transmission during the r/r of the motor. Any ideas?
