High Idle During Warm Up

Fuel System

Model: 911 SC, Year:1983, Mileage:41,000, Type of use:Street use only
My 83 SC starts very well cold, but the idle immediately jumps up to 1500-1800 RPM's and stays for quite some time (10 mins) before gradually reducing to normal idle. Is there a way for me to:1. Lower the cold idle RPM's 2. Reduce the time needed to get to normal idle when coldAlso, the cold idle will often kick in even if the car is at normal operating temp. Could this possibly point to a bad temperature sensor?thx very much for any info you could provide and thanks for this site.
