HVAC and Center Console

Interior

Model: 997, Year:2006, Mileage:15000, Type of use:Street use only
I recently purchased a 2006 997 and noticed a few flaws in the interior. First the has to do with the HVAC for which the fan and temp switches are pealing. I looked on line and it seems I need to replace the entire unit. If I purchase a new unit does it require the unit to be programmed by a dealer in order to be operational once installed? The next issue I have are some slight surface scratches on the centerl console and ashtray. The car has standard sand beige interior and I am not sure if there is a touch up that actually looks good or if I should remove it and have it painted? Are these common problems? If so, Porsche should really address these issues as my car only has 15K miles and does seem to have been abused.
