Hydraulic Tensioner Upgrade

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 SC; Year: 1982; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 52000 miles;

After intstalling the hydraulic tensioner upgrade on an SC, the engine developed a distinct "whine" that is quite apparent over approx. 1000 rpm and not present at idle. The whine increases in frequency throughout RPM range. The sound is closest to a "square cut gear whine" or "fan harmonic" and closely competes with the currently installed dual-out Dansk for volume. The stock muffler note was not discernable over update induced sound. I am unfamiliar if this sound is normal and consistant with the noise of a properly tensioned chain as the car appeared to have a soft tensioner on the right bank and what appeared to be a collapsed tensioner on the left bank prior to the upgrade. Of potential interest is the fact that very little oil came out with the removal of the left chain cover as compared to the right.Is this noise a concern or normal? Lubrication related?
