I have a 1971 914 four with many modifications including Permatune. Some time ago it developed a problem with the ignition circuit. When the key is off the ignition circuit is dead. When the key is turned on it does energize the ignition circuit. However, after the engine is running it cannot be turned off by the key. When the key is turned off with the engine running the circuit stays energized. Once the engine is stopped the circuit is dead. I had to install an interrupter switch to kill the power to the circuit to stop the engine. It seems that the ignition circuit is getting power from the alternator while the engine is running. How is this happening?Kim Lackey
