IMS Failure Remanufactured replacement engine

Model: C4s, Year:2002, Mileage:42,000, Type of use:Street use only
I have had an IMS failure and Porsche Canada is covering the cost of putting in a reman engine. I' was told by the dealer that the engine is really a new one or one with a very minor earlier repair. My question is: What has been done to these new/reman engines to ensure that an IMS failure does not reoccur? My car comes off warranty next July and I don't want to go through this again. I'm toying with buying a 996 turbo which I understand are not subject to these IMS failures.
