Installing new fuel pump

I had a carb go bad and instead of a rebuild, I had new carbs installed from Performance Products. After a complete tune up, the car still has a split second hesitation when I hit the gas at low rpms. Runs great at speed. Mechanic thinks the fuel pump is tired. I bought a new one and need advice about installation. I would like to do it myself. Is there supposed to be a gasket and will oil drain out when I remove the old one? What lubrication procedure, if any, is required?
