Ed,I didn't explain myself correctly. When I mentioned taking the bulb out and touching ground it lit up. What I meant was taking the bulb and socket with wires out of the plastic sleeve and touching the metal part with a ground wire it lights up. In fact, turning the headlights off makes no difference. The light comes on either way with or without the lights being on. There must be a short in the light switch itself.Putting the light bulb back in the instrument receptacle and grounding the instrument and the light still doesn't go on.Cigarette lighter, clock, nothing works. I checked all fuses and they are all intact.I will check voltage and see if voltage is getting to fuse panel. I did remove the second battery and disconnected the grounding wire and the connection from the other battery. Maybe that is the part that is missing or causing the problem.Ron
