Intermittent Failure to Start

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 SC; Year: 1978; Body Type: Coupe; Total Mileage: 122000;

My 1978 911 SC has an intermitent starting problem. On 3 occasions in the past year, the engine will not start when turning the ignition switch with the key. I turn the key, but the engine does not turn over. I believe I hear a click, but cannot say for certain at this time. The battery is fully charged, and the lights and other electric parts are fine when this occurs. I can push / jump start the car in gear, and it runs fine without any loss in power or electric. The next day, the problem does not recur. There are no unusual sounds, and the car runs great otherwise. Does this indicate a problem in the ignition switch? Any history of this type of problem with this model?
