Intermittent power window control

Electrical and Electronic

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carrera; Year: 1985; Body Type: Coupe; Engine (type, size, modifications): 3.2; Total Mileage: 40,000;

Over the last two weeks my driver side power window switch started to fail intermittently. Specifically, most of the time the switch opens and closes the window with no problem, but sometimes it won't close the window. The problem does not seem to occur on the passenger side although I drive alone and do not use that window very often. The car has been very well taken care of, has low miles, has been garage kept for 21 years in Arizona and 3 years in Vermont, and completely original except for an after market stereo about 6 years ago and after market seats about 1 year ago.Based on this information and a statement that you made about the switches being notorious for failing, I assume that the switch is the most likely problem. Do you agree? Or are there other likely sources of this problem? Do you have any recommendations for fixing the problem?
