Knock Sensing after ECU Remap


Vehicle Information: Year: 2000; Engine (type, size, modifications): Manifold, highflow cats, muffler and intake; Total Mileage: 15000; Transmission: Tiptronic;

I considering an ECU remap by the likes of GIAC, Revo or DMS to optimise the mods I've on my car (manifold, high flow cats, muffler and intake). From my other cars, I know this mainly involves changing the stock ignition and fueling map data on the DME by 'hacking' into it.My questions are:1) Will the ignition retard function upon sensing engine knock still be available after the remap? 2) Is there a function within the DME that will advance the ignition timing if it senses a higher than recommended octane fuel being used? I know Porsche recommends 98 Octane fuel and ignition retard will occur if a lower octane fuel is used. However, if a higher octane fuel (> 98) is used, will it optimise it by advancing the ignition?Thanks!
