Low voltage reading

Model: 911, Year:2002, Mileage:23000, Type of use:Street use only
I own a 2002 911 Turbo with 23,000 miles. I only put about 3,500 miles a year on the car. I have a trickle charger that I keep it connect to. The battery is an Interstate that is only 8 months old. The car will start up fine, but when I drive it the voltage reads 13.5 volts and drops to around 10 volts with 3-5 miles. I had the battery checked out and it is fine. A mechanic looked at it and felt like the alternator was not the problem. What should I look for next?Chuck
