Mazda Miata Battery in '73 911

Electrical

Vehicle Information: Model: 911T; Year: 1973; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.7; Total Mileage: 130k;

I recently read an account where a guy used a Mazda Miata battery in a 70's vintage 911. (http://www.rallystuff.com/pcar_electrical.html) He rewired the car and used just one battery. I'm looking to do the same, but replacing both batteries with the Absorbed Glass Mat Miata batteries. It looks like it will fit in the existing battery boxes and the AGM battery will be less subject to the ill effects of neglect over winter months. (no road salt for my car) I've destroyed two sets of factory batteries because they're a pain to remove to maintain. This solution looks like the holy grail to me. What do you think?
