Ocassional clunk when shifting from 1st to 2nd

Transmission and Clutch

Vehicle Information: Model: 911 Carerra ; Year: 1987; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): none that I know of; Total Mileage: 71000;

Acquired this car June of 2005. Top end of engine rebuilt @ 65000 miles new seals installed. Do not know history. Available documentation shows no clutch or transmission issues. Majority of time car shifts smoothly however once in a while here a clunk or thud when shifthing from 1st to 2nd. Have thought it may be me not depressing clutch pedal fully but then wonder if it could be an adjustment required in clutch, worn linkages or something else. No grinding or metal to metal noise occurrs. The shift is somewhat stiff and the sound is noticeable when it occurrs. Please advise your thoughts?
