oil cooler(s)

Vehicle Information: Model: 911; Year: 1973; Body Type: Targa; Engine (type, size, modifications): 2.7 stock; Total Mileage: 168K;

ED:I have been trying to send these two question to the group that handles the 1974 model years, but I continue to get a reply that the web page is not available. So I'm trying you. Sorry for being out of line...2 questions:before i go to the expense and time of gathering parts and installing a front right oil cooler, I'd like to clean the on engine cooler, ensure cyliner fins are clean, and all around inspect for obstruction of air flow..#1. please provide instructions (as detailed as time and space allow) on how to gain access, and clean and inspect possible on engine problems. i suspect the shroud needs to be removed; what are the best steps/procedure for that task? What and where should I look and clean.#2. Please make a recommendation as to type of front cooler. I've read Porsche made 4 types. I realize it's a personal preference, quite possibly best dictated by available funds, use of vehicle and personal expectation. I'm looking for the best solution for the money. as an example if the trombone is "almost" as good as one of the radiator types, but significantly less expensive, that's the way I'd like to go.The old '74 is somewhat tired with 168k miles (top 1/2 rebuilt around 85k), but it runs plenty strong for us, and is the perfect weekend cruser.I do not drive it when the outside temps get much over 75, as the temp needle sits on top of the 220 number,on the highway - (i stay out of town). I've owned it for 3 years, but it is not driven much may thru sept. Perhaps 220 is to HOT for me and not the Targa?.instructions, recommendations, and opinions welcome.Thanks,marion..
