Oil Leak

Model: 944, Year:1983, Mileage:140,00, Type of use:Both Street & Track
I'm trying to identify the source of an oil leak that started at the end of a Drivers Education event last spring. I'm guessing that the stress on the car from the event possibly caused this leak to occur. After parking the car, oil will start to puddle after a short while and then will stop after dripping for a period of time. Looking at the rear of the oil pan you can see a trickle of oil that moves from top right to lower left. The difficult part is that I can't see the origin of the leak. The oil pan gasket has been replaced and the oil dip stick tube has been checked, but the leak persists. I was thinking that the rear main seal might be the culprit. Based on this description, is there any other items I should check before embarking on a time consuming and costly rear main seal (and probably clutch) replacement?
