oil level indicator change

I just purchase this vehicle last fall. I took it into the local Porsche dealership for a oil change. They called me back and informed me that this car has the amount of oil reduced to 8.25 litres and in doing this the computer has to be reprogrammed and a new dip stick installed. My question is has two parts. Have you heard of this reduction of oil for the vehicle? If it is the case why wouldn't this have been done earlier under warranty work. The service has always been done by the Porsche dealership so I would see them making the previous owner aware of this, which they have not done. I was in contact with him to discuss. Porsche told me that it's an old change for the vehicle. Thanks Kevin
